NATIONAL BUSINESS VALUATIONS
What is a Business Worth
The appraisal of a private or publicly held business involves the estimation of the market value of the entity's equity stock. A business value is developed after careful analysis of past trends and projections for the economy, industry and subject firm. These trends are used in the selection and development of the appropriate approach to value, which are Assets, Market and Income.
Although "gut feel" and rule-of-thumb are important, a truly informed value estimate requires the expertise of skilled, experienced appraisers.
The Business Valuation Group welcomes the opportunity to meet with prospective clients and/or advisors to discuss timing, cost and technical aspects of any potential engagement.
Fees are based upon the amount of work required and will vary from company to company and case to case, depending upon factors such as the availability and reliability of financial statements, tax returns, accounting information, property list and descriptions and industry data.
Professional Services
The Business Valuation Group offers three levels of professional services. Comprehensive Business Appraisals, Business Value Assessments and Asset Based Appraisals.
-
Comprehensive Business Appraisals Include an in-depth study of the business, it's markets and industry, study of at least five years of financial reports when appropriate, required interviews with all necessary owners, managers or employees, recasting of applicable financial reports including P&L's and balance sheets, study of business structure, operations, marketing and verification of major fixed asset values. All applicable approaches and methods to value are considered for the selected standard of value. All details of the study and process are reported in a comprehensive format written report.
- Business Value Assessments will entail the review and analysis of historical data provided by the business owner. Includes study of business background, operational information, current and future scene. The data will be evaluated and processed using a select mix of different approaches to value. The results will provide an approximate indication of value and will be presented in an informative written assessment report and will include a review presentation by members of our group.
- Asset Based Appraisal approaches value based on the assets of the company. This approach is applied when the assets of the company are significant to the value of the company. This type of an appraisal can be done separately or together with a BVA or CBA.
